Aseara, 2 iulie 2015, fiind invitat de The Charge d'Affaires of the United States of America, Dean R. Thompson sa particip la The 239th Anniversary of the Independence of the United States of America, la sediul Ambasadei SUA din Bucuresti, am trait moment unice, pregatite cu multa migala si drag de prietenii nostri americani.

Dinspre partea romana s-a evidentiat prezenta distinsa a conducatorului statului, dl. Presedinte Klaus Iohannis, alaturi de Primul Ministru Gabriel Oprea, fostul Presedinte al Romaniei, dl. Emil Constantinescu, noul Director SIE, dl.

I had the honor to be invited by Mr. Dean R. Thomson, Charge d’Affaires of The United States of America, to attend the 239th anniversary of The Independence Day, event organized at The US Embassy headquarter in Bucharest, last evening, event prepared with great carefulness and love by our American friends, where I lived unique moments.

I have participated several times at celebrations, but this time I found very special the atmosphere of warm friendship that I felt from our American friends and partners, their extremely close and sincere attitude, more than other times.

His Excellency Mr. Dean R. Thomson, Charge d’Affaires, actually the Ambassador of The United States of America in Romania, whom I had the honor and privilege to meet personally, it is a very special person,  extremely competent, yet modest and totally dedicated to the diplomacy career. His Excellency along with his wife, Mrs. Jane Thomson, permanently monitored that everything is carried out perfectly, which I assure you it happened until the end, at around 10:30 PM, when I also left.

I also want to mention another person dear to me, who also attended the event, Mr. Michael P. Stewart, Economic counselor, reputed specialist in economy, with whom I discussed in several occasions about investment climate in Romania and Romanian economy, being a great admirer of its depth of thinking and professional competence.

From the Romanian side, I would like to  mention the presence of several distinguished attendees, Mr. Klaus Iohannis, the President of the country, along with Prime Minister Mr. Gabriel Oprea, the former President of Romania, Mr. Emil Constantinescu, the new Director of foreign Intelligence Service, Mr. Mihai Razvan Ungureanu and many other personalities from political, economic and cultural areas in Romania, present at the celebration of the American nation, to highlight the Romanian friendship with the American country and nation.

There is only one thing that I missed at the last evening event! To get in the proximity of Mr. President Iohannis, who was surrounded by fans, both Romanians and Americans, who wanted to have a picture and show their sympathy to the President! Unfortunately, given the circumstances, I failed in my intention to challenge Mr. President to a tennis game, being known its passion for this game. Maybe another time!
